Job Title: Specialist Teaching Assistant

Location: Hull

Rate: £89 to £125 a day (Depending on experience)

Contract Type: Day-to-day/Long-term, Part-time/Full-time

GSL Education are seeking a dedicated and skilled Specialist Teaching Assistant (TA) to join a nurturing school environment in Hull. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real impact by providing targeted support to students who need it most.

About the Role

As a Specialist Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and other professionals to support students with a range of additional needs, including learning difficulties, behavioural challenges, and disabilities. Your role will be vital in helping students access the curriculum and develop essential life skills.

Key Responsibilities of a Specialist Teaching Assistant (TA):

Deliver one-on-one and small group interventions tailored to individual student needs.

Assist in the creation and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs).

Support students with emotional regulation, social interaction, and academic engagement.

Promote a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment.

Track and report student progress to teaching staff and SENCOs.

Work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and external agencies to ensure comprehensive support.

Requirements of a Specialist Teaching Assistant (TA):

Experience working with children or young people with special educational needs is highly desirable.

A compassionate and proactive approach to supporting learning.

Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Patience, resilience, and adaptability.

Relevant qualifications or training in SEN, education, or child development are advantageous.
