Automotive Technical Account Manager

UK–wide Home–based with regular travel Permanent 55k+

This is not a junior sales role and not an order–taker position.

This role sits at the intersection of technical consultancy and strategic account management, selling engineered, specification–led solutions into automotive OEM and Tier 1/2 environments. Long sales cycles. High validation standards. Senior stakeholders only.

The Role

You will own and grow a defined portfolio of automotive OEM and Tier 1/2 accounts, while driving new business across the automotive and EV sector. You are expected to operate independently, manage complex stakeholders, and materially impact revenue and product strategy.

Key Responsibilities

Own and expand a UK–wide portfolio of automotive OEM and Tier 1/2 accounts Identify, qualify, and close new business within automotive and EV markets Execute structured account and territory plans aligned to revenue targets Manage the full sales lifecycle from prospecting to contract close Act as a technical advisor on engineered sealing solutions and materials Support customers through design–in, validation, testing, and ramp–up Deliver technical presentations to engineering and procurement teams Conduct regular on–site visits to uncover growth opportunities Track market trends, competitors, and customer feedback Feed structured insight into product development and portfolio planning Maintain accurate CRM, forecasting, and pipeline reporting Ideal Background

Proven technical sales experience within automotive or engineered products Strong exposure to specification–led sales with long decision cycles Experience selling into OEMs and Tier 1/2 suppliers Technically credible with engineers and commercially sharp with buyers Structured, disciplined, and accountable for results Comfortable working autonomously in a home–based role Requirements

HNC (or equivalent) in Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Demonstrable success in consultative or technical sales Full UK driving licence Right to work in the UK Willingness to travel regularly Additional benefits
