1948 Rover 60 P3 4-Light Sports Saloon One of just 363 produced We have recently been contacted by a knowledgeable Rover collector who informed us that this particular car is considerably rarer than we first realised. This is the desirable P3 60 4-Light Sports Saloon, of which we understand only 363 examples were produced. As far as we are currently aware, this could be one of the very few surviving examples remaining in such remarkably original condition. Produced for just two years, the Rover P3 is now a rare sight on British roads and is highly regarded for its transitional post-war engineering, traditional craftsmanship and timeless styling. With just three previous owners from new, this particular example is something of a unicorn. My father recently acquired the Rover, along with a 1937 Rolls-Royce 25/30, from a deceased estate. It is immediately apparent that the previous owner had a keen eye for quality and originality. Records with the car show that he purchased the Rover in 2013 for £16,000. Powered by the original Rovers smooth and dependable 1,595cc four-cylinder engine (Which is shared with the 1948 Land Rover Series 1) paired with a 4-speed gearbox, the car runs well. The bodywork and paintwork are exceptional for a vehicle approaching 80 years old, while the underside is in fantastic condition with no obvious rust concerns. As part of a light recommissioning, the underside has also been treated with Lanoguard to provide additional protection. Having been off the road for a couple of years, remarkably little was required to bring the Rover back into running order — a testament to both the quality of its engineering and the care it has received throughout its life. The interior remains tidy and highly presentable. The leather seats are in excellent order with no rips or tears. The carpets are showing their age and would benefit from replacement at some point, although they remain perfectly usable as they are. The tyres are showing some signs of age-related perishing, but currently hold air without issue. Overall, this is an exceptionally charming and increasingly rare post-war British classic. With its extremely limited production numbers, low ownership and wonderful state of preservation, it represents a fantastic opportunity for a Rover enthusiast or collector looking for something genuinely unusual.
