Location: Wellingborough, Northamptonshire (Office Based)

Salary: 32,000 – 40,000 + Benefits

Hours: Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week Office based role

Do you have experience with automotive parts, engine components, workshop tools, garage equipment or the automotive after market?

Perhaps you're currently working as a Parts Advisor, Product Administrator, Purchasing Assistant, Technical Administrator, Buyer, Product Coordinator or within an automotive distribution environment and are looking for your next challenge.

We are recruiting for an exciting opportunity with an established and growing business based in Wellingborough. This is a fantastic chance to join a close–knit office based team where you'll have the opportunity to influence product development, supplier relationships and category performance whilst working directly alongside senior management.

As Category Buyer, you will take ownership of designated product ranges, helping to source, develop and launch products whilst ensuring commercial targets are achieved.

Key responsibilities include:

Sourcing new products and identifying new supplier opportunitiesNegotiating pricing, terms and minimum order quantitiesManaging new product launches from concept through to marketMonitoring sales performance, margins and stock levelsMaintaining accurate product information and specificationsProducing product descriptions, guides and technical contentManaging product lifecycle activities and inventory performanceSupporting Sales and Marketing teams with product knowledge and promotionsWorking closely with suppliers to ensure quality and compliance standards are metBuilding strong relationships with internal departments and external suppliersWe would particularly like to hear from candidates with knowledge or experience in:

Automotive parts and componentsEngine partsWorkshop tools and equipmentGarage equipmentAutomotive after market productsMechanical or engineering productsAutomotive trade distribution

You may currently be working in a parts, automotive, engineering, technical or purchasing environment and be looking to progress into a more commercially focused role.

Skills

Strong attention to detail and organisational skillsExcellent communication and relationship–building abilitiesCommercial awareness and analytical mindsetGood Microsoft Excel skillsAbility to manage multiple tasks and priorities

Desirable Experience

Product, purchasing or category management experienceAutomotive aftermarket experienceEngineering or mechanical product knowledgeExperience working with suppliersSage 200 knowledgeProduct development or related qualifications
