We are looking for a buyer to join our team based at our Doncaster site. Reporting to the Senior Buyer, you will be responsible for ensuring optimal performance from a portfolio of tactical suppliers within a defined value stream ensuring that products and services purchased lead to improving value and service to Unipart and its customers.
The hybrid role offers flexibility, but ideally you will be located near to the Doncaster office, which will be your home office location.
Key Responsibilities
• Tactical sourcing, tail spend management, supplier performance and maintaining Procurement master data.
• Cost reduction activity and manage supply chain risks to minimise the impact for Unipart.
• Analyse and maintain Procurement master data and supplier rationalisation.
• Obtaining pricing for Bid related activities.
• Work closely with Unipart Rail engineering, procurement, quality, finance, S&OP and tactical/tail-end suppliers.
• Support the wider Procurement Operations team in ensuring that all transactional activities across the supplier portfolio are undertaken in a timely manner.
Person Specification
We are looking for a degree-qualified procurement professional with a CIPS Level 4/5 qualification (or equivalent), with procurement experience, particularly in sourcing and securing validated quotes for parts and services.
You will be an experienced SAP ERP user, preferably to super user level and strong analytical and problem-solving abilities are essential, along with the ability to work independently, manage deadlines, and juggle priorities effectively.
Confident communication with strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, capable of presenting clear analysis and insights to senior stakeholders are essential to this role.
Experience in the rail sector, blue-chip manufacturing, or repairable management processes is highly desirable, as is a working knowledge of continuous improvement principles. A team-oriented approach, combined with a track record of cross-functional collaboration will ensure success in this dynamic and fast-paced role.
