Tradewind Recruitment are working with a supportive secondary school in Wirral to recruit a dedicated Attendance Officer for a term-time maternity cover role. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is organised, approachable, and committed to supporting student attendance and welfare.

About the Role: As an Attendance Officer, you will play a key role in monitoring and improving student attendance across the school. You will work closely with staff, students, and families to track attendance data, follow up on absences, and help promote a culture of punctuality and engagement.

Key Responsibilities: Monitor daily attendance and maintain accurate attendance records

Follow up on unexplained absences via phone, text, or email

Liaise with parents, carers, and external agencies regarding attendance concerns

Prepare attendance reports for leadership and external bodies as required

Work with pastoral teams to support students with attendance issues

Promote positive attendance through school-wide initiatives and communication

Ensure all attendance procedures are carried out in line with safeguarding policies

Requirements: Previous experience in an administrative, school-based, or attendance-related role

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Strong IT skills and experience using SIMS or other school systems (training can be provided)

Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately

A proactive and organised approach to work

A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children

Ability to work independently and as part of a wider pastoral or admin team

A positive, solution-focused attitude

Experience working within a school environment is desirable but not essential
