Description
Hi, I’m Sarah,
Reaching out for therapy can feel like a big step - especially when you’re not entirely sure what kind of support you need or even how to explain what’s been going on.
You don’t need to have that worked out before you contact me.
I’m a psychotherapist working with individuals and couples, and my style is warm, down-to-earth and practical. I want therapy to feel like a genuine conversation: somewhere you can be yourself, make sense of what’s happening and begin finding ways forward that actually fit your life.
People often come to me saying some version of:
“I know why I do it… I just don’t know how to stop doing it.”
And that’s a big part of the work I love.
You might be struggling with anxiety or overwhelm, overthinking everything, reacting more strongly than you want to, putting everybody else first, feeling burnt out or stuck, or finding yourself repeating the same patterns in relationships.
You may also be navigating ADHD or neurodivergence - whether you’re diagnosed, awaiting assessment, exploring it for yourself or simply beginning to recognise that your brain may work a little differently.
Or perhaps you can’t neatly put your finger on what’s wrong. You just know you don’t want things to keep feeling like this.
That’s enough to start.
What is therapy with me like?
I’m a pluralistic psychotherapist, which really means I don’t expect you to fit neatly into one particular type of therapy.
We’ll work out together what helps you.
Depending on what you need, I can draw on psychotherapy, CBT-informed and solution-focused approaches, hypnotherapy, NLP, EFT, mindfulness - DBT, nervous-system regulation and practical behaviour-change strategies.
Some sessions might involve understanding where a pattern began. Others might be much more about what happened this week and what you can do differently next time.
I’ll listen, of course - but I won’t only sit and nod. I’ll ask questions, help you spot patterns, explain things where that’s useful and gently challenge you when I think it might help.
And there can absolutely be humour too. Therapy can be meaningful without feeling clinical or intimidating.
At the heart of how I work is something quite simple:
Understand the pattern. Regulate the response. Create the change.
ADHD & Neurodivergence
I have a particular interest in ADHD and neurodivergence, especially the parts that can sometimes be missed when we focus only on attention.
That might include emotional regulation, overwhelm, rejection sensitivity, procrastination, executive functioning, impulsivity, masking, burnout, relationships, confidence and self-esteem.
You don’t need a formal diagnosis to work with me.
The aim isn’t to make you better at forcing yourself to function like somebody else. It’s to understand how you work and find ways of living that work better for you.
Couples Therapy
I also work with couples who feel caught in recurring arguments, communication difficulties, loss of trust, emotional disconnection, intimacy difficulties or neurodivergent relationship dynamics.
I’m not there to decide who’s right.
Instead, we slow things down and look at what keeps happening between you - because very often the real problem isn’t the subject of the latest argument. It’s the cycle you’ve both become caught in.
Understand the pattern, not just the argument.
A little extra support
Where helpful, I will send personalised reflections, exercises or resources following our sessions to support the work we’re doing together.
I want what happens in therapy to be useful when you’re back in your actual life - during the difficult conversation, the overwhelming Tuesday morning or the moment you notice yourself about to respond in the same old way.
Fees
I prefer to be transparent about fees from the beginning:
Individual Therapy - £55 for 60 minutes
Couples Therapy - £85 for 60 minutes
I also keep a limited number of £40 concessionary individual appointments for people experiencing financial difficulty. Please feel free to ask about availability.
Sessions are available online or in person in Widnes, Cheshire.
Not sure whether I’m the right therapist for you?
That’s completely fine - finding the right person matters.
I offer a free, informal 20-minute consultation so you can tell me a little about what’s happening, ask me anything you’d like to know and get a feel for whether we might work well together.
There’s no obligation to book afterwards and no hard sell.
Just come as you are and we’ll start there.
