LARGE VINTAGE FRENCH PAN RACK, OAK PLATE RACK & NINE METAL HOOK HANGING RAIL, COAT HOOKS, 170cm long, 30cm tall, 12.5cm deep/wide 5.8kg - FRENCH KITCHENALIA

WILL POST - Due to dimensions postage is expensive on this I’m afraid but I can post this for £60 if paid for by bank transfer (Note - we only accept payment in cash on collection or by bank transfer if delivery agreed - no PayPal, card, or courier payment).

Selling our collections (hoards) of mostly French vintage items that have been acquired over many years until finally we have no room for more!

We got this from a vide maison at Essoyes in the Champagne region where it had been used to display copper pans and decorative plates in a country kitchen.
We intended to do the same but never got around to fitting it.
Obviously old but of uncertain age, it’s a substantial oak rack with nine Fleur de Lys metal hooks and a grooved upper plate rack shelf.
It’s a good quality apparently hand made piece that is still usable as intended or as a coat hook rack perhaps…

In very good vintage condition with some wear but no damage - please examine photographs carefully for condition.
In more or less as found condition, this has just had a light clean and a coat of beeswax.
I think it’s constructed by a combination of screw and nail with sound, secure joints.
The wood is oak with a nice open grain showing and, although worn, in good condition.
There is no sign of woodworm.
The ends are strong and sound.
The nine metal hooks are brass effect and all well screwed in place, secure and easily strong enough to hang pans or coats from.
The top shelf is reinforced with nails along the back edge, one of which has slightly pierced the rear - see photos.
There is a single groove in the top for displaying plates.
There are two fittings screwed the rear for hanging the rack along with what appears to be strips of cardboard tape on the rear of the upward ends, presumably to allow it to fit flush to the wall - see photos.
I can find no maker’s mark.

Measures approximately:
170 cm long,
30 cm tall at the ends,
12.5 cm wide/ deep at it’s deepest point, 10 cm shelf depth.
Weighs about 5.8 kg.
