APPALLING WORKMANSHIP & UNPROFESSIONAL BEHAVIOUR I rarely leave reviews, but my experience with Troy Choo-Yin was so dreadful it deserves to be shared as a warning. He completely underestimated the job, arrived unprepared, and used a flimsy cling-film-like material instead of proper floor protection leaving our carpets, sockets, and smoke detectors splattered with paint. The workmanship was appalling. He was hired to paint the walls, ceilings, and doors, but his approach was careless from start to finish. He didn’t clean or sand the doors before painting and used a dirty brush, leaving visible grit and sand-residue marks embedded in the paint. The walls and ceilings were just as bad, covered in uneven coats, visible roller lines, and paint streaks that dried patchy and rough. It was clear he lacked both the skill and attention to detail expected of a professional decorator. When we raised concerns, Troy became rude, aggressive and defensive, even calling us “ungrateful.” He was quite frightening. He then refused to remove the masking tape around the skirting boards and told us to do it ourselves an astonishing level of arrogance given the state he left the property in. We later had a professional decorating company inspect the work; they were shocked at the poor quality and confirmed that Troy is not a professional tradesman. We are now paying for expensive remedial work to repair the damage. Save yourself the frustration and expense avoid Troy Choo-Yin entirely.

We’re so happy with the work Troy did on our hallway and bathroom, it looks amazing! He was super quick, really tidy, and the finish is just perfect. On top of that, he’s so polite, friendly, and helpful, just a lovely person to have around. We honestly couldn’t recommend him enough and will definitely be getting him back for all our future painting jobs!

I recently hired Troy for a painting job in my bedroom, and I couldn’t be more impressed. After leaving my details on Bark, Troy contacted me the very next day. I sent over some pictures of the room, and he provided thoughtful, honest advice before the work even began. What really stood out was how responsive Troy was—when I reached out late in the evening due to the urgency of the project, he was more than happy to accommodate. When Troy arrived in person, he was just as genuine as he had seemed in our conversations. He completed the work in a timely manner, and the quality was outstanding. Not only was the job done perfectly, but the price was also very reasonable. I highly recommend Troy! We used him to paint our landing, staircase, hallway and bedroom. He did an amazing job! He worked so hard and wanted to make sure the job was done to a high standard. I’ve already recommend him to friends and family.
