Cornus mas, the Cornelian Cherry shrubs
Reading, Berkshire
£2
Description
I have some Cornus mas, the Cornelian Cherry, or edible dogwood, they are around 50 cm , and after a few years they look lovely as Hedge, or mixed hedge or small tree. It flowers early in the year (which is great for bees), usually starting in February time, with loads of small, yellow flowers , It looks fantastic in tree seasons. The flowers ripen into bright red, acidic, edible cherry-like fruits, which give this tree its common name of Cornelian Cherry. It has a lot of anti oxidant and goodness if you manage to eat then as they are or make jam etc.
