The Astor piano brand, a distinguished name in the world of music, was owned by Kohler & Campbell Piano Co and crafted by the renowned South Korean manufacturer, Young Chang. Recognized as one of the globe's largest piano producers, Young Chang is celebrated for its commitment to creating innovative, contemporary instruments.

In a strategic collaboration reminiscent of the Kemble Piano Company, Young Chang allied with the esteemed Yamaha Corporation of Japan in 1964. This partnership, akin to Kemble's, embraced Yamaha's advancements, optimizing manufacturing processes, refining production lines, and jointly developing an entirely new range of pianos.

Manufactured to exacting standards in 1996, this Astor represents the epitome of a modern, compact piano, sharing notable characteristics with the Yamaha-influenced Kemble Classic II. Due to their limited production, Astors are not widely available, but we eagerly seize the opportunity to stock exceptional examples, such as this one, whenever they present themselves.

The Astor is a meticulously designed instrument, lauded for its exceptional quality and stability. This upright piano stands as a remarkable testament to Korean craftsmanship.

Central to the Astor's stability is its specially designed full-perimeter frame, complemented by a hard rock maple wrest plank and high-quality spruce soundboards. The carefully selected materials and advanced manufacturing techniques employed in its construction yield durable, long-lasting instruments that offer outstanding value for money.

Our reconditioned Astor PE9 features a complete 88-note keyboard, delivering a pleasing volume accompanied by a balanced and responsive touch. This modern upright piano exhibits an impressive dynamic range, characterized by a warm, full-bodied bass, an engaging tenor, and a clear, singing treble. Additionally, it includes a celeste (middle) pedal, allowing for quieter play when discretion is desired.

Encased in a sleek, contemporary dark mahogany finish with a high-gloss polyester sheen, this piano complements a wide array of décors while offering the durability that makes such case types popular globally.

As with all pianos available for sale through us, this Astor upright has undergone thorough reconditioning in our workshop, expertly prepared by our skilled technicians to ensure the highest standards of quality.
