Description
This print is from 1977 and is by renowned British artist Terence Cuneo OBE. He is known for his whimsical works involving rodents giving them human like attributes in human settings. If you look into this bustling Victorian fair ground scene you will see Terence’s humour at large in the titles, events and characters proving his fascination for these creatures and their characters like the Cheddar Champ strongman and Dolcelatta Lille the exotic dancer. There’s a Cheese Shy and a Strawgonzola ice cream cart further showing the depth of his humour. The more you look the more you’ll see, the muscular tattooed Sailor Rat on the test your strength tower, the young mouse firing his catapult, the police man Rat, the drunken Soldier and another young mouse setting off a firework.
This really is all the fun of the Fair to enjoy and it can only go up in value.
Cuneo was the official artist for the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth 11 in 1953.
