Description

Large Vintage Maritime Oil Painting Tall Sailing Ships at Sea Signed Y. Jones

Brief Description:

This is a large, beautiful vintage Oil on Canvas Maritime Painting, dating to circa 1970–1980 and signed by the artist, Y. Jones.

This beautifully executed nautical painting depicts a magnificent three-masted sailing ship, with its enormous ivory-white sails billowing in the wind as it makes its way through the rolling waters of the open sea.

The imposing vessel dominates the composition, its elegant dark hull cutting through the blue-grey waves, while a second fully rigged sailing ship can be seen navigating the distant horizon.

Overhead, a wonderfully atmospheric sky is painted in delicate shades of pale blue, soft grey and subtle blush pink, with scattered seabirds adding a lovely sense of movement and tranquillity to the scene.

The work is beautifully presented within an attractive, substantial giltwood-effect frame, featuring an elegant moulded profile and a decorative beaded inner border that complements the maritime subject perfectly.
