ANTIQUE FRAMED CHINESE SILK EMBROIDERY TAPESTRY PICTURE, MAN ON HORSEBACK, CABIN, LAKE & CRANE, 78x45cm - 1900s FRENCH INDOCHINA? - REDUCED!
WILL POST - I can post this for £12 if paid for by bank transfer (Note - we only accept payment in cash on collection or by bank transfer if delivery agreed - no PayPal, card, or courier payment).
Selling our collections (hoards) of mostly French vintage items that have been acquired over many years until finally we have no room for more!
Part of our wall art collection, we got this from a vide maison at Epernay in the Champagne region.
It’s an antique/vintage silk embroidery picture which apparently originates from French Colonial Indochina and dates to the early 1900s. It was brought back by a relative of the owner and framed.
(Note: all my information about this is gleaned anecdotally from the owner and the internet - I am very happy to be corrected!)
Finely stitched with a rural lakeside scene of a man on horseback, a cabin, trees and a crane, it’s obviously a quality piece.
Now worn but still in a bright, intact, condition it makes a great piece of oriental chinoiserie wall art.
In good vintage condition with some wear consistent with its age - please examine photographs carefully for condition.
The tapestry has wear and a little staining - see photos.
The embroidery stitching is still intact with very few, if any, pulls - see photos.
It is securely and quite smoothly fitted in the frame I think having been mounted on board.
I have not removed it from the frame.
The frame is probably contemporary to the tapestry or a little later and is made from gilded and painted wood that is now worn and tatty but sound - see photos.
The rear is worn but secure.
There is a hanging hook.
Measures approximately:
In Frame - 45 cm tall, 78 cm long, 5 cm deep,
Visible tapestry - 35 cm tall, 48.5 cm long
