My neighbour, Andrew,(AJ), has asked me to assist him in disposing of a car that he has had in storage for some9 years. He is a retired mechanic and is useless at IT and can not manage a computer.

He has been recommissioning this BMW but has far too many other projects and has run out of time to complete getting this 525i on the road.

I am staggered by the condition of this 35 year old, as a barn find it is in excellent condition requiring very little expense or time to bring it back to it’s former glory

The car has had 3 previous owners, has a massive full service history MoTs showing a mileage of 95,472. The last being prior to placing in a barn in August 2017.

Original handbooks and instructions

There is NO RUST on this car. All panels are original with no dents or dings. There are loads of stone chips to the bonnet which a previous owner has attempted a repair. The bonnet will need a respray.

The interior I just about perfect as is the boot. No evidence of any wear. All glass is excellent. No damage to the dash. All electric windows and electric sun roof work as intended as does the cassette radio and electric antenna. Air condition and original over-mats

The wheel rims are original and are in a good condition, The tyres have plenty of tread but are old.
NO RUST on the underside and the wheel arches are excellent.

It has the full original BMW tool kit and even has the glove box torch. The spare is unused.
Central locking works and it has a BMW alarm with key.

It has had a recent full brake overhaul.

The car starts, runs and stops but would benefit from a good long run. AJ is reluctant to do this as the timing belt will need changing as belts and water pump were changed years ago...

It had a replaced fuel pump and sender unit preceded by a tank flush and replacement seals.

This is an excellent project for someone with a bit of time and appreciates the value of these classic BMWs.

Things to do to make excellent:
• Change timing belt.
• Change tyres
• Respray bonnet
• Investigate minor intermit ant dash instrument fault
• Give it a good long run after a minor service.
If I did not have too many projects of my own I would be buying this….!
