Description
Selling my 1996 Yamaha Thunderace 1000. A proper old-school litre bike with a fantastic-looking red and white colour scheme and a seriously loud inline-four engine!
The bike has covered 36,000 miles but has been off the road since 2009, having been dry-stored in a barn until I purchased it and brought it back to life. It has since had plenty of attention to get it running and riding as it should.
🔧 Work carried out:
Carburettors cleaned
Fuel tank cleaned
New fuel hoses and fuel filter
Brand-new battery
Fresh engine oil and oil filter
Brakes and clutch bled
Rear brake overhaul, including a new brake line and brake clean
The bike starts, runs, rides and brakes perfectly. It's a great example of a 30-year-old Japanese superbike, and I'd rate its overall condition around 9/10 for its age.
✅ MOT booked for 6th November
✅ New tyres booked for the same day
✅ Comes with a set of Pirelli Rosso tyres, which are the final item needed for the MOT.
I'm getting the tyres fitted and the MOT done on the 6th November. If the bike hasn't sold before then, I'll relist it at a higher price, so there's an opportunity to buy it beforehand.
The Thunderace is a proper old-school sports bike with plenty of character, a strong inline-four engine and that unmistakable sound. It's been a great project to bring back from long-term storage, and it's now ready for someone to enjoy.
