She was an elected member of the SWA and also showed at the RA, RBA, RMS and the St. Ives Society of Artists. Elected RI in 1956 she is best remembered as a painter of flower pieces.
Her work is held by the GAC, RWA and the Royal Collection.
She moved to St. Ives in 1914 and spent many years there as a member of the St. Ives Society of Artists and with her close friend Dorothea Sharp ran the now defunct Lanham Gallery in St. Ives from 1929.
Marcella moved to London 1921 to live with Dorothea SHARP in Maida Vale, but maintained her St Ives studio. She was invited to contribute a painting to Queen Mary’s Doll House (1922).
