Description
This Arts and Crafts/Edwardian nursing chair is in original condition.
It has a sprung seat with a felt type padding.
The chair looks to be covered in its original red velvet fabric and therefore shows signs of cosmetic ware, faded, worn in parts and needs a clean.
There are no holes or tears.
The seat has been re webbed to hold the springs which were dropping.
The wood is mahogany, I think.
The front legs are baluster turned, rear legs are shaped, swept and all riding upon the original ceramic castors, in good order.
The solid wood back rest is straight and ornate.
The top rail is carved with unusual grotesque fantasy creatures and the back further supported by unusually ornate carved and turned spindles.
