Posting for 8+ monthsvintage eastern rug, hand knotted, fringed, never unrolled - pristine, 4' x 3'
Washington, Tyne and Wear
£80
Description
To the best of my recollection I bought this rug in the mid 1980s, when I took a city break holiday in Istanbul. It was a gift for my parents. Upon learning that it was an expensive rug my father promptly rolled it up, wrapped it carefully in black polythene and stored it indoors for a 'future time' that never came...
The dimensions: approx. 50" x 34" (127cm x 86cm) plus 3" (7.5cm) fringes at each end (please notice tape measures in some of the images in the photo gallery).
The rug was purchased at 'Onur carpets' (see images of leaflet) and I belive it is a genuine artisan hand-knotted woollen rug but I have no expertise to guarantee this. Please view the 11 images of the top-side of the rug and the 10 images of the back-side in the photo gallery: I gather that the slight pattern imperfections (e.g. lines not quite straight) and occasional little knot, standing proud of the backing on the back-side, are indicators that it is a genuine article.
Please note that there is a very slight curl to one of the corners of the rug, highlighted in two of my photographs by an orange arrow. I hope it may be corrected by application of a warm iron or small clamp but I do not wish to attempt correction myself for fear of damaging the rug through inexpertise.
Collection from my home which is easy to find and has ample parking.
