Rare Vintage Tools Stanley No. 2 Try & Miter Square

Description

A vintage Stanley No. 2 Winterbottom's Patent try and miter square. Designed for woodworking and carpentry, it is used to mark and check 90-degree-angles (try square) and 45 degree angles (miter square). It features the patent from Charles Winterbottom in 1869. These squares are quite rare and can difficult to find.

This particular square belonged to my grandad who was keen on DIY, especially woodwork. It has been passed down but unfortunately I have no practical use for it and it seems a waste to just leave it sitting in the shed so now is the the right time to move it on to someone who will appreciate it and get some use out of it.

There are some signs of rust in places but nothing that affects use. It is still strong and sturdy as items of this era were designed to be. There is also some writing on the bottom of the handle which I am unable to make out.
