This 80's Peavey has a very similar design to the now-revered Decade, and has the same Pre- and Post-gain interactive controls, as well as the Saturation button, and a nice powerful EQ with a Thick push button. A noticeable difference in build is the addition of a battery compartment, which you can load up with D-cell batteries (it doesn't last for ages on batteries, but this will come with a set fitted nevertheless), or if you're comfortable tinkering you can fit a modern LiPo or Li-ion battery with a BMS/charger to have a genuinely great sounding, suspiciously loud, rechargeable battery powered amp from the Decade of Mint Amps (I just made that up).

It used to utilise a big, heavy, linear 12v power supply that couldn't quite provide enough power for the circuit at full beans. It now uses a repurposed (sonically clean) switched-mode 12v supply that can provide 18w of continuous power, so you've still got some headroom at absolute maximum volumes.

Furthermore, this amp has been modified with a switched speaker-out jack socket, for powering external cabinets. This has been tested with great success, and rehearsal-grade volume, with 4x12, 1x12, 4x8, and 1x15 cabinets of various impedances. The amp will happily push 4-16 ohm cabinets without overheating or clipping. The switched socket means that the internal 8" speaker automatically disconnects when a jack lead is plugged into the speaker out.

The internal speaker is rather decent, if you're planning on using this as a practice amp, or on batteries (it will drive external cabinets on batteries, too, but play-time might vary) it is definitely decent enough, and slightly wider frequency response than a typical practice amp, capable of glassier high end, and (probably owing to the properly heavy and solid cabinet) fat lows. The pre-gain around 12 o' clock gives you meaty crunch, all the way up to literal high gain territory at 3&4 o' clock. It also has been tested extensively with pedals and plays well with everything that's been thrown at it.
