Description

Every one of us is a genetic product of our parents, and they of their parents, and so on. Our physical features and, sometimes, aspects of our personalities, are inherited from our ancestors. Finding out who they were and how they lived can give us a whole new perspective on our own identity.

Researching our family history opens our eyes to so many related topics. It introduces us to the social history of the eras in which our ancestors lived, such as the types of houses and living conditions and enables us to see how events such as wars, or politics and religion affected individual families.

Apart from the logical reasons for looking into our family's past, there are others, and the whole process can be incredibly exciting. There's a lot of detective work, trying to find evidence to prove, or disprove, family legend, or using different documents to solve mysteries. For many it is an opportunity to create something for future generations. Today, children are taught about what life was like centuries ago, and before the end of this century children will be taught about what life is like today, therefore an accurate record of who their ancestors were and what sort of lives they led is a wonderful gift for our generation to give to those who follow.

There are several reasons to employ a professional genealogist. Some potential clients have ancestry in the UK but may live abroad, others work full-time and simply don't have the time to research their roots. Some clients are experienced amateur genealogists who have hit a brick wall in their research that they are struggling to break down , while some are new to genealogy and simply need a helping hand. Whatever your reasons, Shires Genealogy welcomes clients old and new.

Linda was very professional always kept me informed with what she found .went above and beyond with photographs and interesting bits of information I have been sat with a missing jigsaw puzzle for about 6years and Linda solved it within a week .Linda also linked my daughters site for us which wasn’t part of the deal so really went that step further So many thanks Linda will use you again if we had to would recommend you to any body else thanks Glenis

What a great person Linda is . We commissioned Shires Genealogy (Linda) to do my wife’s family tree .We started to do it ourselves but it didn’t take long before we started hitting brick walls so we got in touch with Linda to help , what she uncovered was fantastic taking us all the way back too early 1600s and with our information and the information she uncovered we ended up with 15 generations. I recommend having your family history turned into a book and if you can uncover has many old family photos which can be placed in to the book along with all the other archives Linda will uncover it would look fantastic . This will allow many more generations of your family to enjoy , I would also suggest having a family tree scroll done .Linda kept in touch regularly to keep us informed how it is progressing and it was a real pleasure working with her . Linda was absolutely the right person for us, professional but friendly. On receipt of the assorted information that we had collected over time, Linda checked, corrected and added to it. With minimal information stored in the brain regarding time, name and place, super sleuth Linda went successfully on the hunt. We received regular updates with thoughtful potted histories relating to distant relatives. Gave guidance and support as to how to navigate our way, as the family tree widened.
