I've had this box for more than five years I think and it's been so useful. It was a bit dark in there so I added a magnetic LED light which charges with a USB C cable (comes with the box).
I've rubbed a fresh coat of BriWax over it to stain and protect it and I've sprayed a good quality furniture polish in the carved lettering and on the metal fixings to clean them.
The blanket is stuck to the box with adhesive Velcro so it can be removed but if you didn't want to keep it on then it will need a quick sand and stain where you peel it off. It's been on for years...for as long as I've had the box. It hangs down the back of the box but when pushed up against a wall you can't see it at all.
It's quite a nice blanket to have, especially if you have a cat ! It certainly protects the top of it well and makes it nice to sit on :)
It's a good quality, robust box that will stand up to knocks & bumps. It's not in brand new condition and does have scratches and scrapes here and there but it just adds character to it and makes it look authentic and all areas have been freshly waxed anyway so its looking smart.
This was not a cheap flat pack piece of furniture that has been knocked up with a screwgun and dowels, it's been made properly and was delivered whole, it does not come to bits.
It seems to be quite a unique piece these days as they're not available to buy anywhere online that I can find
