A distinctive and properly prepared 1973 Hillman Super Imp historic rally car, offered in good, usable condition.

Converted from a classic trials car into its current rally specification in 2003, it is powered by a 998cc Rallye Imp engine with twin 40 Weber carburettors. The engine was previously rebuilt by respected Hillman Imp specialist Dennis Allt of TransImp Ltd and is fitted with one of his camshafts.

The competition specification includes a bolt-in roll cage, TRS harnesses, genuine 12-inch Minilite wheels, a 10-gallon long-range fuel tank, Tripmaster, navigational watches and Cibie Oscar auxiliary spotlights.

The car has genuine historic event experience, including participation in the 2005 Monte Carlo Winter Challenge, the 2006 Emerald Isle Rally and other road events.

Before my ownership, it reportedly underwent an extensive restoration costing more than £12,000, including replacement floorpans and sills, new brakes and a full repaint.

I bought the car because of its historic rallying potential. No major work has been carried out during my ownership, as it was purchased in good, usable condition.

This is an older competition-prepared classic, so age-related cosmetic imperfections and signs of previous rally use should be expected. Anyone planning to compete should complete their own servicing, safety checks and confirm eligibility for their chosen event or championship.
