When I give an opinion on a scooter or chair, it's not the opinion of a salesman, it's the opinion of someone who uses and understands what it's like to use mobility scooters and powerchairs.

Serviced, checked, cleaned and tested. In superb condition only the odd little mark. Running beautifully. Complete with mains charger.

QUINGO ULTRA

Quingo make some of the most innovative and cleverly designed scooters and the Ultra is a great example of that.

Most 'shopping' scooters follow the same basic design, but not the Ultra.

Quingo have never been afraid to follow their own path and the Ultra is distinctly different and in many ways distinctly better than other compact scooters.

Probably the single biggest difference is Quingo's patented 5 wheel technology.

The idea behind it is simple. Three wheelers have better manoeuvrability; 4 wheelers have better stability; 5 wheelers have great manoeuvrability AND great stability.

A great idea in principle AND in practice. It really works! The Ultra has a phenomenal turning circle and great stability.

Another big difference is the chassis. Most scooters use a steel chassis; the Ultra uses aluminium. As anyone with knowledge of such things will tell you, aluminium is both very strong and very light, allowing the Ultra to take users up to 133kgs. It also means that despite the Ultra being larger and much more comfortable than 'ordinary' scooters, when disassembled, the heaviest part is still only 17kg.

As anyone who has read any of my 'reviews' before will know, I'm always going on about how pneumatic tyres benefit ride quality and unlike most small scooters, the Ultra rides on large diameter wheels fitted with high profile pneumatic tyres.

The difference in comfort is marked. The Ultra glides over bumps that would trip up most small scooters. And the super well padded seat is a really comfortable place to spend time. Which is just as well, because the Ultra has tremendous range.

Unlike 'ordinary scooters which have a pair of 12ah batteries, the Ultra has two pairs, which of course doubles the range!

I mentioned bumps. The Ultra will actually tackle 2" kerbs and the wide tyres also mean it can handle softer surfaces such a grass much better than its competitors.

It also has much more comfortable seat and much more room than other scooters, with the individual adjustable footplates giving loads of space to stretch out.

The Ultra comes apart for transportation really easily and will fit in most cars.

So lots of advantages. There must be a downside.

Well, the only one I know of is the Ultra takes up a bit more room in your car, but will still fit in the boot of most medium or larger cars and in small cars with the rear seat folded.

If you can manage that, the Ultra is WAY more capable than 99% of other small scooters and offers so much more.
