This is a Vickers M72 series polarising microscope. It dates from around 1968. It comes in its original wooden case and some little extra pieces including an additional lens, some more plates and some of the small additional tools including a tiny alan key and spanner. It even includes a photocopy of the original instructions. These are a bit stained, but are still fine to read – please see the pictures for all of the inclusions.
As previously mentioned, this is untested as I’m not really sure how it all works. All the knobs, switches and slides seem to rotate / move as they should. But leaving its working condition aside, it is in generally good condition as it has been carefully stored in its box for several years now. There are a few light scratches, but nothing major.
All in all, this is quite a nice example of a Vickers M72 series polarising microscope with its original case and some extras – so hopefully it’ll find a new home.
