Description
A well-maintained, rust-protected Venture Edition MX-5 with nearly £4,000 spent during my ownership, a no advisory MOT in March this year, and a comprehensive history. I bought this car intending to keep it long-term and prepared it accordingly, but I simply can't justify owning three cars.
The Mazda MX-5
Every true petrolhead should own an MX-5 Miata at some stage in their life. It offers one of the purest rear-wheel-drive, lightweight and simple driving experiences available, proving you don't need hundreds of horsepower to have fun.
Anyone familiar with MX-5s knows that rust is their biggest weakness, which is why I bought this one based on its underside rather than its paintwork. Since then I've invested heavily in protecting it for the future, with receipts totalling almost £4,000 during my two years of ownership. The work includes a comprehensive underbody rust treatment and preventative maintenance throughout, all rewarded with a no advisory MOT in March this year.
The MX-5 is also refreshingly easy to work on, and staying on top of straightforward maintenance pays dividends. I've enjoyed being part of the thriving MX-5 Owners Club, attending events and sharing advice with fellow enthusiasts.
I've now finished bringing the car up to the standard I wanted and have thoroughly enjoyed owning it. It's now time for someone else to enjoy it.
My Car
SB13 ZND is a 1.8-litre Mk3.75 (NC) MX-5. It is one of just 250 soft-top Venture Editions sold in the UK between 2012 and 2013. First registered on 09/07/2013. I am the fifth keeper, having purchased the car on 22/08/2024. During my ownership I have covered just 3,444 miles, bringing the current mileage to 87,044. This may increase slightly as I continue to enjoy the car until it is sold. The previous owner kept the car for ten years (2015–2024), which was one of the reasons I bought it. There were three keepers during its first two years and, unfortunately, I have no records covering that period.

Work Carried Out
During my ownership I have completed the following maintenance and improvements:

• All drain holes cleaned
• Windscreen cowl grommets sealed
• Offside rear wheel arch professionally repaired
• Thoroughly cleaned engine bay, interior and hood

• Paintwork machine polished and waxed
• Various wear-and-tear items repaired or replaced, including the steering column, brake light switch, gear lever gaiter and handbrake gaiter
• Headlights restored

• #5 pool ball gear knob fitted (original gear knob included)
The Small Jobs
As you’d expect from a 13-year-old car, it isn’t perfect. I’ve listed the remaining minor jobs below so there are no surprises, and the asking price reflects them.
• The centre section of the exhaust has a small leak that has been wrapped. Replacement centre sections are inexpensive and readily available leaving the next owner free to replace it or upgrade to a stainless system.
• The passenger seat occupancy sensor works but can occasionally stick, sometimes requiring the seatbelt to be plugged in.
• The anti-glare coating on the factory sat-nav screen is patchy.
Included in the Sale
• Two keys
• Original owner's handbook
• Maintenance folder (2017 to present), including photographs
• Haynes MX-5 workshop manual
• Genuine Mazda full car cover
• Mobile phone holder and iPhone charging cable
• Dashcam, memory card and hard-wiring kit
• Two sets of floor mats (carpet and waterproof)
• Two Fineway desiccant dehumidifier packs
• Warning triangle
• Jack and wheel brace
• Locking wheel nut key
• Front and rear towing eyes
• Emergency tyre inflation kit
• Tyre inflator pump
• Spare engine oil
• Spare FL22 coolant
