Location: Colchester

Salary: 40,000 – 50,000 per annum

An established and growing manufacturer of construction products is seeking an experienced Works Manager to lead its production operation in Colchester. This is a hands–on management role, ideal for someone with experience in heavy manufacturing, construction materials, concrete, aggregates, quarrying, precast, asphalt, recycling or other industrial production environments.

You will be responsible for managing a team of around 15 production staff, ensuring efficient manufacturing, maintaining quality standards and driving continuous improvement across the site.

Duties

Lead and manage a team of 15 production operativesOversee day–to–day manufacturing and production activitiesPlan and coordinate daily, weekly and monthly production schedulesDrive productivity improvements and reduce wasteMonitor quality, output and production performanceImplement and maintain company procedures and policiesTrain, coach and develop production staffEnsure Health & Safety and environmental standards are metInvestigate and resolve production issuesEnsure products are prepared correctly for dispatchOversee vehicle loading and on–time deliveriesRequirements

Previous experience as a Works Manager, Production Manager, Manufacturing Manager, Factory Manager or Operations ManagerBackground within heavy manufacturing or construction product manufacturingProven people management and leadership experienceStrong understanding of production planning and continuous improvementHealth & Safety knowledge (IOSH qualification desirable)Excellent communication and organisational skillsHands–on approach with the ability to lead by exampleBenefits
