Description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Powder Coating/Painting Operative based in Bedford for one of our clients on a full-time permanent basis.

Summary of the Powder Coating/Painting Operative role

Salary: £15 - £17 per hour

Location: Bedford

Type of Contract: Temp to perm

Hours: 40 hours, Monday - Friday 8:00am - 4:30pm

Responsibilities of the Powder Coating/Painting Operative

Prepare metalwork, including balconies, balustrades, staircases, railings, and gates for coating by cleaning, masking, and hanging components.

Operate powder coating and wet spray equipment, ensuring correct application and finish.

Inspect materials before coating to identify any defects or preparation issues.

Mix and apply coatings according to job specifications.

Carry out touch-ups, rework, and minor repairs where required.

Maintain a clean and organised work area, following health and safety procedures.

Work closely with the fabrication and finishing teams to meet production targets and delivery deadlines.

Requirements for a successful Powder Coating/Painting Operative

Proven experience working in a powder coating or metal finishing environment.

Previous experience handling steel fabrication products, such as staircases, balustrades, or railings preferred.

Strong attention to detail with a commitment to producing high-quality finishes.

Knowledge of surface preparation, curing times, and different coating types.

Ability to read and follow work instructions, job sheets, and technical specifications.

Physically fit and able to handle heavy or awkward metal components safely.

Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently or as part of a small team.

A positive, safety-conscious attitude and willingness to maintain high standards of workmanship.
