Description

Our client is a specialist engineering company providing servicing, repairs, upgrades and maintenance on rail plant and Road Rail Vehicles (RRVs). Due to continued growth, they are looking to recruit an experienced Plant Fitter to join their close-knit workshop team, working on a wide variety of specialist rail infrastructure equipment.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer looking for a stable, workshop-based role with regular overtime available, ongoing training and long-term career progression.

The Role:Carry out servicing, maintenance and repairs on Road Rail Vehicles (RRVs) and rail plant equipmentDiagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical faultsComplete major overhaul, refurbishment and upgrade projectsWork on safety-critical equipment including RCI (Rated Capacity Indicator) systemsRead and interpret hydraulic and electrical schematicsCarry out fault finding using diagnostic equipmentSupport larger refurbishment projects alongside welders, machinists and electrical engineersComplete inspections and testing to ensure equipment meets required safety standardsMaintain accurate service and repair recordsEnsure all work is completed safely and to a high standardOccasional site work may be required, although the role is primarily workshop-basedThe Candidate:Previous experience as a Plant Fitter, Heavy Plant Engineer, Rail Plant Engineer or similarStrong mechanical and hydraulic fault-finding experienceExperience working on excavators, construction plant, RRVs or specialist rail equipmentAbility to read hydraulic and electrical schematicsExperience using diagnostic equipmentElectrical experience would be highly advantageousWelding or fabrication experience would be beneficial but not essentialAble to work independently with minimal supervisionFull UK Driving LicenceIdeally 10+ years' experience within the heavy plant or rail plant industrySalary & Benefits:GBP20-GBP22 per hour (dependant on experience)37.5-hour working week (Monday-Friday, 8:30am-4:30pm)Regular overtime available paid at time and a halfPrimarily workshop-based rolePaid travel time for site work where applicableCompany vehicle available for business travel when required24 days holiday plus bank holidays3 days reserved for Christmas shutdownDeath in Service benefit after 12 months' serviceOngoing training and developmentSupportive, close-knit engineering teamLong-term career progression opportunitiesBennett and Game Recruitment are a multi-disciplined technical recruitment agency based in Chichester, West Sussex operating across the UK with specialist teams covering a range of industries.We are acting as a Recruitment Agency in relation to this vacancy, and in accordance with GDPR by applying you are granting us consent to process your data, contact you about the services we offer, and submit your CV for the role you have applied for.
