This exciting role as a Packaging Technologist offers the opportunity to work across a range of new product development (NPD) processes within the FMCG/food sector. You will have a key focus on managing packaging costs while delivering value–added activities that enhance product packaging and contribute directly to business success. The role demands a proactive and solution–oriented individual who thrives in a fast–paced environment and is passionate about packaging innovations and sustainability. Based in Chester, you will collaborate closely with R&D, production, and procurement teams to bring packaging concepts to life and ensure optimal quality and efficiency.

Responsibilities

As a Packaging Technologist, you will play an essential role in supporting new product development (NPD) processes from concept to completion.

Collaborate with cross–functional teams to develop innovative packaging solutions that meet product requirements.Oversee cost management and ensure packaging activities remain within budget.Drive value–added activities that enhance packaging efficiency, sustainability, and quality.Evaluate packaging materials and suppliers to optimise performance and cost–effectiveness.Ensure compliance with food safety and industry regulations regarding packaging standards.Support production teams in troubleshooting packaging challenges and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

Proven experience as a Packaging Technologist or in a related packaging development role within the FMCG or food industry.Strong knowledge of packaging materials, technologies, and manufacturing processes.Experience managing costs and driving value improvement activities.Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.Excellent communication and teamwork skills.Relevant qualifications in packaging technology, food science, or related discipline preferred.If you are interested in this position please click 'apply'.
