Senior Freight Operations Coordinator

Location: Birmingham, Redditch

Salary: 30,000 – 36,000

Job Type: Full Time, Permanent

An established and growing freight forwarding business is seeking an experienced Senior Freight Operations Coordinator to join its operations team. This role would suit a strong all–round operator with a background in sea freight and a hands–on approach to managing complex shipments and key customer relationships.

Job Role:

Manage sea freight import and export shipments end–to–endLiaise with carriers, overseas agents, hauliers, and internal teamsHandle customs processes, documentation, and clearance coordinationFinalise bookings, review costs, and ensure accurate invoicingMonitor charges such as demurrage and quay rent and resolve disputesProduce and check shipping documentation (HBLs / MBLs where required)Act as an escalation point for operational issues and delaysSupport service delivery on key or high–volume accountsContribute to process improvements and operational best practice

Job Requirements:

Proven experience in freight forwarding operations (sea freight essential)Strong understanding of import/export procedures and customs processesExperience working with carriers and managing operational disruptionsHigh attention to detail with strong organisational skillsConfident communicator with a customer–focused mindsetAbility to manage multiple shipments and priorities simultaneouslyExperience in European road freight is beneficial but not essentialWR Logistics are the recruitment partner for all vacancies in the logistics industry.
