Description

Our client, a well–established freight forwarding company based in Felixstowe are looking for an Import Clerk to join their team!

Key Duties:

Manage the coordination and administration of import shipments, ensuring efficient movement of cargo. Prepare, verify, and process import documentation accurately and in line with regulatory requirements. Maintain compliance with customs procedures, international trade regulations, and company processes. Communicate with customers, shipping lines, airlines, and external partners to monitor shipment progress and provide updates. Handle import–related queries and support the resolution of any issues or delays. Accurately input shipment details into internal systems and maintain up–to–date records. Monitor import schedules and support the smooth running of daily operations. Work closely with the wider operations team to ensure timely and efficient cargo handling. Assist in investigating and resolving delayed or complex shipments. Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance import processes and operational efficiency.

Previous Skills & Experience:

Strong understanding of international trade practices and import procedures. Knowledge or experience of customs processes, regulations, and customs brokerage requirements. Excellent communication skills with the ability to build effective relationships with customers, carriers, and internal teams. High level of accuracy and attention to detail when managing documentation, data entry, and shipment records. Previous experience within freight forwarding, supply chain, or logistics operations is desirable.
