VINTAGE FRENCH OPALINE GLASS PENDANT LAMP, YELLOW GRADUATED MILK GLASS, MURANO? - NOT TESTED NEEDS RE-WIRE - H29cm diameter 27cm - 1940s - REDUCED!

This is a beautiful, substantial, glass pendant lamp acquired from a vide maison in Blacy in the Champagne region.

According to the owner it dates to the 1940s and had been used for many years before major renovation of the house.

Also according to the owner the glass shade is Murano glass.

It is obviously hand blown and a quality item in opaline, milk glass, or vaseline glass with a graduated opacity top to bottom. However there is no maker’s mark so this is listed as query Murano.

Although lightly worn the glass is in very good condition and the fittings and link suspension chain is still sound but with wear and tarnishing to the chromed surface.

Note: This has not had an electrical test and will not have one prior to sale. It was working when removed and still has some old wiring and Bakelite/plastic fittings but these are very worn and need replacing and re wiring.

In good vintage condition with wear consistent with age - please examine photographs carefully for condition.

The photos best show the condition of this.

In more or less as found condition, this was very dirty on acquisition and since had a clean.

The shade is in very good condition with light wear but no chips or cracks - see photos

It has an enclosed bubble effect base which refracts light attractively.

The chromed metal chain, gallery and ceiling fitting are all strong and sound but have wear, staining, pitting, and tarnishing - see photos.

There is a sound decorative wooden disc above the shade.

All screws are present for fitting the shade to the gallery.

Note: As mentioned above this needs re-wiring and all electrical fittings replacing.

I can find no maker’s mark.

Measures approximately:
Shade - 29 cm tall, 27 cm diameter maximum, 9.5 cm at the top opening,
Total length including pendant chain - 96 cm,
Weighs about 1.9 kg in total.
