ICT Engineer
Location: Mirfield & Huddersfield
Hours: 37.5 hours per week, flexible start between 7:30am–9am
Contract: Full time, all year round
Salary: £26,000 - £28,000
Reporting to: IT Infrastructure Manager
About the Role
We’re looking for a customer-focused ICT Engineer to join our client's growing IT Services Team. This is an exciting opportunity to work across two thriving education establishments supporting staff and students with a wide range of technologies and contributing to the continual improvement of their IT provision.
You’ll be one of the 'go-to' onsite IT contacts — providing both first and second-line support, resolving technical issues, and ensuring systems run smoothly and efficiently. With opportunities to eventually get involved in projects, deployments, and new technology rollouts, this is a role where you can grow and make a visible impact.
About the Team
You’ll join a supportive, hands-on team led by the IT Infrastructure Manager, working closely with a Deputy IT Manager, a Project Engineer, and a network of Technicians across sites As they continue to grow, so will the IT structure — creating future opportunities to develop and specialise within the team.
Key Responsibilities
*
Provide day-to-day ICT support to staff and students onsite.
*
Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and networking issues.
*
Support and maintain PCs, laptops, printers, and AV equipment.
*
Assist with the installation and configuration of systems and software (Windows 11, Aruba, Papercut).
*
Maintain accurate records, including asset registers and licensing.
*
Support events such as open evenings and days (overtime paid).
*
Liaise with suppliers and external partners as needed.
What We’re Looking For
We’re more interested in people skills than deep technical expertise — we can train the tech, but genuine customer focus and communication are key. You’ll thrive if you enjoy problem-solving, helping others, and being part of a team that values trust and autonomy.
Essential skills & experience:
*
Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
*
Experience supporting Windows environments.
*
Basic networking and troubleshooting knowledge.
*
Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (mileage reimbursed beyond normal commute).
Desirable:
*
Experience with Aruba Networks, Papercut, and M365 administration.
*
Prior experience in a similar environment.
Benefits
*
17% employer pension contribution
*
26 days annual leave + bank holidays
*
Time off in lieu for project/overtime work
*
Flexible working hours (7:30–5:00, with flexitime options)
*
Mileage reimbursement beyond normal commute
*
Free on-site parking
*
Supportive and collaborative team culture
*
Opportunities for CPD, training, and professional growth
This is primarily an onsite role, though hybrid working can be arranged for the right candidate once established. Flexibility is offered for personal appointments, and overtime is available for project work and events (roughly one evening every 3–4 months).
