This is a fantastic opportunity to join a leading fresh produce business, supporting the delivery of quality, food safety, technical compliance, and supplier performance across a key product category.

Working closely with the Head of Technical and wider commercial and operational teams, you'll play a vital role in ensuring products consistently meet customer expectations and compliance requirements. The role offers excellent exposure across supplier management, product quality, customer relationships, continuous improvement, and new product development, making it ideal for someone looking to further develop their technical career within the fresh produce sector.

What you'll be doing

As a Technologist, your responsibilities will include:

Supporting the management and delivery of quality, food safety, legality, sustainability, ethical, and technical standards across the product categoryTaking an active role in new supplier and seasonal supplier approval processes, including technical, ethical, and environmental due diligenceSupporting the technical approval process for products and participating in specification sign-off activitiesWorking closely with produce and commercial teams to identify opportunities to improve quality performance and operational efficiencyManaging and maintaining key technical documentation, reports, spreadsheets, and customer information accurately and within agreed deadlinesSupporting Technical Managers in customer-facing activities and acting as a point of contact for product-related queries when requiredLeading and participating in complaint investigations, identifying root causes and driving corrective actions through continuous improvement initiativesSupporting new product development projects from concept through to launch, ensuring technical requirements are met throughout the processManaging customer and internal specifications to ensure accuracy and compliance at all timesAttending customer meetings alongside the technical leadership team to gain a strong understanding of customer requirements and expectationsBuilding strong relationships with suppliers and supporting discussions around quality, technical performance, ethical standards, sustainability, and specification alignmentWorking collaboratively with site teams and suppliers to develop and deliver improvement plansManaging the day-to-day complaints process and producing analysis, reports, and insights to support business performance reviewsSupporting supplier and grower visits to assess quality performance and identify opportunities for improvementConducting GMP and Food Safety audits and supporting wider site compliance activitiesCoordinating and managing the sample approval processIdentifying opportunities for innovation, continuous improvement, and best practice across technical operationsPromoting the highest standards of food safety, hygiene, health and safety, and environmental responsibility throughout the businessWhat we're looking for

We're looking for an organised and proactive technical professional who enjoys building relationships, solving problems, and driving continuous improvement within a fast-paced fresh produce environment.

Ideally, you'll have:

Previous experience within a Technical, Quality, Food Safety, or Technologist roleExperience within fresh produce, food manufacturing, or FMCG environmentsA good understanding of food safety, quality systems, and customer compliance requirementsStrong attention to detail and excellent organisational skillsExperience working with customer specifications and technical documentationThe ability to investigate issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective actionsExcellent communication skills and confidence working with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholdersStrong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and present technical dataA proactive approach to continuous improvement and operational excellenceGood IT skills, including confidence working with spreadsheets, reports, and technical systemsThe ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines within a fast-paced environmentWhat's in it for you?
