Vintage Wines Lot A - 1975 Chateau Lagrange Saint-Julien - Magnum
Tower Hamlets, London
£150
Description
This Magnum of 1975 Saint-Julien Grand Cru Classé Médoc was bottled in Chateau Lagrange and features a Mid Shoulder level which indicates a cork in good condition. The label has no tears or missing pieces. This wine would be of interest to wine collectors who would appreciate that the 1975 Médoc vintage was exceptionally good, known for producing powerful, long-aging wines with high tannins and structure. Despite initial worries about the weather, the hot, dry summer resulted in grapes with remarkable concentration. This winery is located on the Left bank of the Juillac stream from Pauillac, just downstream of the Gironde River.
Saint Julien is known as the most homogenous terroirs of all the Médoc community appellations and is highly praised for its structure and aromatic intensity. This wine was famously tannic in its youth but has developed great complexity over decades, with the possibility of still offering remarkable depth today. Many experts consider 1975 one of the best Bordeaux vintages since 1961, particularly for the red wines built for the long haul. The high-quality wines from this year have become benchmarks for lovers of classic, profound wines.
