Vintage Syrian Style Mosaic Inlaid Wooden Dome Top Trinket Jewellery Box

Description

A vintage hand-crafted trinket box in the Middle Eastern mosaic tradition. Its domed lid sits on a stepped plinth base, and every surface is covered in fine marquetry.

The lid is centred on an eight-pointed star in light and dark wood with green accents, set inside a diamond frame of banded micro-mosaic. Bold triangle borders run around the edges and the base, and the front, sides and back are lined with striped and barcode-pattern inlay. The box closes with its original metal hasp clasp.

Inside, it is lined in rich red velvet, with a red ribbon stay that holds the lid open. It is a lovely size for rings, earrings and small keepsakes, or simply as a decorative piece on a dresser or shelf.

The box is in good vintage condition with honest signs of age. There is a hairline crack in the dark wooden band across the lid. You may also notice light surface marks, small scuffs to the inlay, and wear to the black-painted rim inside. Please see the photos for details.
