HAND CARVED AND HAND PAINTED STATUE OF A SEATED EAST AFRICAN ASKARI (GUARD)
A fun carving of an askari seated on a stool that would fit well in a family room, child' room or study. It was acquired in Tanzania in 2006. The statue is from one piece of wood and quite heavy. It is not clear what the askari in clasping in his right hand.
Paint is flaked or worn in various place (see photo). The carving has not been retouched.
