Description
In superb condition, this medallion was made and awarded to key workers who kept the country running through the nine days the country came to a standstill.
Pre-owned 1926 bronze "For Service in National Emergency May 1926" medal, housed in its original fitted presentation case. The obverse shows a seated classical figure with the inscription "FOR SERVICE IN NATIONAL EMERGENCY MAY 1926" and floral emblems. The reverse depicts a three-figure standing design with Latin text and is signed "E. GILLICK" at the base. The medal appears to be bronze and is uncleaned.
The original fitted case has a brown leather-effect exterior with gilt border, cream satin lid lining and fabric-covered medal pad with retaining ribbon.
