About the Role:

As a Pastoral Support Worker, you'll be a key member of the school's wellbeing team, providing practical and emotional support to students both in and out of the classroom. You'll help maintain a safe, positive learning environment and build trusting relationships that enable young people to thrive.

Key Responsibilities:

Deliver 1:1 and small–group pastoral interventions to support emotional and social development

Support attendance, punctuality, and behaviour strategies through regular check–ins and monitoring

Act as a trusted adult for students who need additional emotional or behavioural support

Assist in managing reflection or reset rooms to promote restorative approaches

Work with staff and parents to address barriers to learning and wellbeing

Contribute to safeguarding processes by identifying and escalating concerns appropriately

Promote inclusion, respect, and resilience across the school community

Who We're Looking For:

Experience working with young people in education, youth work, mentoring, or a similar setting

A calm, empathetic, and confident approach to managing behaviour and emotional needs

Excellent communication and relationship–building skills

Professionalism and discretion when dealing with sensitive issues

A positive team player who's passionate about student wellbeing and inclusion

Understanding of safeguarding practices (training can be provided)

What You'll Gain:

A full–time role with potential to become permanent

Weekly pay at competitive rates

Access to free CPD, including safeguarding, mental health, and behaviour management training

A supportive school environment with strong pastoral and leadership teams

Dedicated guidance from an experienced education recruitment consultant

The opportunity to make a genuine difference in the lives of young people every day

Make a Difference This Academic Year

If you're compassionate, motivated, and ready to help students overcome challenges to succeed, we'd love to hear from you.

Apply today to become a Pastoral Support Worker in one of our Northampton secondary schools, starting ASAP or from January 2026.
