Residential Support Worker – Children's Residential Homes
Location: Birmingham – Yardley Wood, Kings Heath, Oldbury & Moseley
Salary: 26,880 basic + 70 per sleep–in + overtime
Expected Earnings: Approx. 36,120 with 11 sleep–ins per month
Hours: 160 hours per month Approx. 11 shifts
Shifts: 8am–11pm, with sleep–ins where required
Contract: Full–Time, Permanent
We are looking for caring, resilient and reliable Residential Support Workers to join children's residential homes across Birmingham.
You will support children and young people who may have complex emotional, behavioural and social needs, providing a safe, stable and nurturing home environment.
What You'll Be Doing
Supporting and safeguarding children and young people within a residential setting Building positive, trusting and professional relationships Providing 1:1 and 2:1 support where required Supporting young people who may display challenging or distressed behaviour Using appropriate de–escalation and behaviour management techniques Following individual care plans, risk assessments and safeguarding procedures Supporting young people with education, activities and appointments Helping young people develop independence and practical life skills Encouraging positive routines, boundaries and behaviours Completing accurate daily notes, incident reports and other records Supporting with cooking, shopping and maintaining a safe and homely environment Working closely with social workers, families, schools, health professionals and other agencies What We're Looking For

Caring, patient and emotionally resilient Confident supporting young people with challenging behaviour Able to remain calm during difficult situations A strong communicator and team player Reliable, responsible and professional Committed to safeguarding and promoting young people's welfare Able to maintain professional boundaries Comfortable completing written records and reports Flexible to work weekends, sleep–ins and varying working days Willing to work across different Birmingham homes when required Previous residential childcare experience is desirable but not essential, as full training can be provided to candidates with the right values and attitude.
