Behaviour Support Worker – Tendring Secondary School

Location: Tendring, Essex

Contract: Full–time / Term time only

Salary: Competitive, based on experience

Start date: ASAP

Are you passionate about making a real difference in young peoples lives?

We are looking for a dedicated, patient and proactive Behaviour Support Mentor to join our pastoral team at a thriving secondary school in Tendring. This is a vital role supporting students to overcome barriers, improve behaviour, and succeed both academically and socially.

About the Role

As a Behaviour Support worker, you will:

Work closely with students who require additional behavioural, emotional or social support

Build positive, trusting relationships to help pupils make better choices

Provide 1:1 and small group mentoring sessions

Support the development and delivery of behaviour improvement strategies

Assist in managing behaviour incidents, restorative conversations and reintegration plans

Liaise with teaching staff, pastoral teams and external agencies where appropriate

Help maintain a calm, safe and inclusive school environment

About You

Were looking for someone who is:

Calm, empathetic and confident when dealing with challenging situations

Able to build strong relationships with young people

Skilled in de–escalation, communication and positive behaviour management

Resilient, proactive and committed to supporting the schools behaviour ethos

Experienced in working with children or young people (school experience preferred but not essential)
