Brilliant and much under-rated classical guitars, Hokadas are really well made, great sounding and wonderfully playable instruments. This particular model was made in Romania in the 1970s, distributed in UK by Stentor Music Ltd and is a great example of the quality of these guitars.

All solid tonewoods; solid spruce top, solid maple back and sides. Rosewood fingerboard. Great quality tuners. Exceptional tone and volume. Traditional and high quality fan bracing. Real wood marquetry soundhole inlay.

The scale length of 520mm means this is an instrument which is smaller than traditional classical guitars. The size is comparable with modern parlour instruments but with a nicely comfortable 48mm nut width. Speaking as big fan of parlour guitars, this size of instrument is great for ease of playing, but also produces a slightly brighter, mid-upper range focussed sound. Even on a nylon-strung guitar the sound is sweet and tight. Wonderful to record and sounds great in a mix.

A guitar that’s a bit under the radar for many people, but they do have a loyal enthusiastic following because they are simply well made, high quality instruments.

Hokada are still making great guitars, but these original 1970s Romanian made instruments really do have something special.

A great guitar for students, folk with smaller hands, but also experienced players who want to add something a little different to their sonic palate.

Nut width 48mm, overall length 830mm, scale length: 520mm

This one is in overall good condition with some playing wear mainly to the top as usual. A few dings, but nothing significant. Binding is still in place and no lifting frets. Neck is straight and true. All feels tight and safe.

A great sounding, well made instrument with some history behind it and still able to produce great music.
