Description

Nik Huber Krautster II - £2300

The guitar in question is a 2018 Krautster II finished in Worn Onyx Black. The spec is all standard high end stuff:
- 2 piece mahogany body with very thin satin nitro finish
- Highly figured maple neck (fat but wonderful) with East Indian rosewood 'board, 25" scale length with 10-14" compound radius
- Hardware: wraparound adjustable bridge, Schaller Kluson style open tuners
- Electrics: Neck P90 and Bridge humbucker - made by H. Haussel, paired with a standard volume, tone and 3 way toggle (tone pulls to split the humbucker)

Full details can be found on the Huber site.

This is a truly superb guitar, perhaps the best I've owned (but I have this brand loyalty thing for Patrick James Eggle guitars and am looking for a Macon Jnr). It's immensely comfortable with a light body and superb neck. It has this wonderful sustain and resonance, and the pickups are very versatile. If you watch reviews, you'll see mixed responses with a couple of high profile reviewers being a bit picky - personally I think they're wrong and when I bought this guitar nothing about it disappointed me, at all.

The guitar comes with its original shaped tweed case and all the case candy (and there's a lot of it) - full pack of info sheets, certificate of authenticity, lanyard, cleaning cloth.

The condition is good, but not mint - it has a few marks and feint surface scrapes on the unfinished back and the face of the guitar has a number of small dings and marks. The thin finish does make this guitar susceptible to marking, but it's good to see some evidence that a high end guitar of this type has been played and enjoyed and not just admired from a distance.

Checking eBay today, there are 4 Krautster IIs for sale in the UK ranging from 2550 to 3300 and ordering new would be closer to £5000 so I believe this may be the cheapest available currently.
