Ibanez V220 Vintage Series (Japan, 1980s) + Schatten HFN passive piezo pickup
Ealing Broadway, London
£475
Description
Still available.
Here is a rare, high quality 000-size steel string acoustic guitar,
manufactured in Japan in the late 70s.
I lovely sounding guitar. I'm only selling as I have two other
acoustic guitars - I'm thinning out the herd, so to speak.
I purchased this about a year ago. The previous owner had left
it in the loft, so it was not in playable condition. However, it looked
great to me, and had a great-feeling neck. It was constructed of
high quality tonewoods (i.e. spruce top, rosewood back and sides)
and therefore, well worth the effort and expense to fully restore.
From the photos, one can see that it's a solidly, well-constructed
acoustic guitar. Check out the video.
It has a tight, focused sound, with strong emphasis in the mids.
I strung it with phosphor bronzes to retain the strong mids, and
strung it with bronze lights to add more zing. The video recording
is of the guitar strung with D' Addario XS bronze lights 12-53s.
The guitar has been fully restored, serviced and setup for
optimal playability by my long-time guitar tech, David Kennett
of Flame Guitars in Sutton, London. Please review the recent
invoice for the work carried out on this guitar. The pickup
installed is the Schatten HFN acoustic guitar passive pickup,
purchased new from the Sandarac music store website for
£128.00. It is one of the best piezo passive pickups for getting
a good natural amplified acoustic guitar tone.
There are splits along the rear sides of the headstock (see photos),
but they are both structurally sound and only required mild glue
filling (only for the right side split).
Note that the sale does not include a gig bag or case.
Tryouts welcome.
Collection only, from Gordon Road, Ealing, west London.
