Hughes & Kettner Black Spirit 200 head

Description

My Hughes & Kettner Black Spirit 200 head is for sale, because since I bought the floor version, it just gathers dust.

This is an amazingly versatile and seriously good-sounding amp which has so many features I can’t list them all, but there’s a wealth of material on line including loads of YouTube videos. I’ll try and point out the main bits though:

It only weighs 3.55 kg (or a little less than 8lb in old money), yet it has a 200w output - more than enough for any gigging situation. It can be switched to 20w & 2w, too, making it perfect for band rehearsals, smaller gigs and home use.

It has four channels (Clean, Crunch, Lead and Ultra) and built in effects (Reverb, Delay and Modulation (Chorus, Flanger, Phaser, and Tremolo)).

It has a Sagging control, which lets you adjust power amp behaviour and which, in conjunction with the gain and volume controls, gives you a huge range of sounds, from low-powered vintage amps all the way to modern, tight metal amps.

It has the brilliant H&K Red Box DI Out, with adjustable levels and a switchable selection of eight different speaker cab emulations.

There is a single speaker cab connection, but it is switchable, allowing you to connect the amp to a proper guitar cab, or even hi-fi, studio monitors, or PA speakers.

The amp has Bluetooth, so it can be controlled from the H&K Black Spirit app on your phone or tablet.

It is fully midi capable. When used with a suitable midi controller, you can store and recall 128 presets. To this end, I’m including the H&K FSM 432 Mk V dedicated controller, which has preset mode (for access to the 128 presets), stomp box mode (which allows you to switch channels directly and to activate modulation effects, delay and boost independently) or Direct 7-Mode for direct access to seven different sounds. The controller also has connections for external controllers - for instance, a footswitch to control the amp’s boost. The controller comes with a custom case I had made by RoqSolid.

The amp comes with the dedicated padded case and I will include the midi cable which connects the controller and amp.

To buy these items all together would cost in the region of £700, but I am asking £500. I will consider any reasonable offer.

I would rather not split, since the amp works best with the FSM432.

You can collect the amp in person, or I am more than happy to deliver within a reasonable distance of Weymouth, such distance to be agreed at point of sale. I will not courier it, since I no longer have the packaging, but you are welcome to arrange your own courier service entirely at your own risk.
