The Fairclough Electric Sky Xll is a high-end quality instrument, and really delivers that classic big chiming 12-string guitar sound. This is a pro-standard guitar, and perfect for any 6-string players who want to add a 12-string to the armoury!
The action is low and easy, the neck is a shallow and comfortable C-profile. Fishman electronics with 4-band EQ and onboard tuner, it sounds the business, either acoustic or through an amp or PA. Fingerpicking, flatpicking or strumming, the sound is well-balanced and responsive, with warm bass and mids, and clear singing treble.
Handcrafted in the UK, with premium woods: solid spruce top, rosewood back, sides and bridge, mahogany neck with bound rosewood fingerboard. Pearl dot fret markers, pearl headstock inlays, a mahogany soundhole surround, and the deep gloss finish shows the grain of the woods beautifully. The previous owner replaced the original tuners with an Epiphone set, which are smooth, accurate and hold tune very well. Body size is just smaller than a jumbo, the neck joins at the 14th fret, and the cutaway allows easy access to the upper frets.
It’s never been gigged, only played at home/in studio, and it’s in near showroom condition, comes with a Fairclough strap and very well padded and reinforced gigbag, in excellent unused condition.
The build and materials quality are easily the equal of the higher-end upwards of £400 Yamaha/Ibanez/Faith/etc offerings. I love the big warm sound and easy playability, and the Fishman electrics really do the acoustic sound justice, and I’d rather keep it. Only selling ’cos it’s slightly on the big side for me - I usually play a parlour size Paul Brett one.
