1977 Fender Musicmaster Bass

The Fender Musicmaster Bass is a short‑scale, budget‑friendly Fender model known for its 30" scale, single guitar‑style pickup, and simple, student‑model design, now prized for its quirky vintage tone and rising collectability. Designed as a companion to the successful Mustang Bass and as a bass counterpart to the Musicmaster guitar the Musicmaster Bass was produced from 1970 to 1983.

This 1977 model in gloss black has a Maple bolt‑on neck with 19 frets and rosewood fingerboard, with Mustang‑style clover tuners. A single six‑pole Stratocaster guitar pickup hidden under a plastic cover - this unusual choice gives the Musicmaster its distinctive, mid‑forward tone. This pickup is controlled by one volume and one tone knobs. The guitar is all original and comes complete with a brand new Fender short scale bass padded gig bag. The frets and fretboard are in great condition. The body and headstock have plenty of small marks and dings showing that this bass has certainly been well played (see last 10 pictures) – and no wonder as this is a great fun bass to play – setup in-house with a new set of DR Strings Short Scale Hi-Beams.
