I really can’t recommend Cheshire Design home improvements enough. From start to finish they were nothing short of brilliant. And what can I say about our finished drive and garden but it’s absolutely out of this world. 5+ star for these guys. Spen and George from Stockport.
There is a review on here that portrays Cheshire design in a bad light, well please pay no attention to this as you have to break a few eggs to make an omelette so there is some major work at the start but when you see the finish job it’s absolutely breathtaking. I would 1 million percentage use Ian and his team again. !!

AVOID! This will be the type of work you are paying for!
I am leaving this review based on my personal experience and have photographs, videos, and a signed purchase specification form to support the points raised.
Unfortunately, my experience with this company was disappointing due to repeated mistakes, poor communication, property damage, and ongoing delays in resolving issues.
Before work began, we discussed the removal of an existing wooden shed during the site visit. A skip was hired during the groundwork stage, so I assumed the shed would be removed as part of the project. It was only later that I discovered shed removal had been excluded from the quotation. During the excavation stage, one of my security cameras was repeatedly disabled(video below), Ian apologised for these issues and assured me they would not happen again. The gate stopper that we had specifically requested be retained was discarded.
There were also concerns regarding organisation and efficiency. On one occasion, workers arrived in the morning but spent several hours waiting for materials to arrive. They left shortly before the delivery was made, resulting in little progress being achieved that day.
The quality of workmanship also raised concerns. Part of my garden has a curved boundary, yet the edging was installed in a straight line that cut across the curve rather than following its shape. During the same stage of work, damage was caused to another shed, its base, and a nearby paving slab. I was not informed of this damage and only discovered it myself. Although Ian apologised for the edging issue and attributed it to a misunderstanding, there was no proactive communication regarding the damage to my property.
The most significant issue occurred during the trimming and resin stage. The double-border design had been agreed in advance, included in the signed specification, illustrated in diagrams, and displayed on-site for reference. Ian also advised that a confirmation video would be sent before resin installation so the design could be checked. While the trimming work was taking place, I noticed through my camera that the border dimensions appeared incorrect and raised my concerns immediately. I was assured that the design was understood and that the work was not yet complete. However, the trim was ultimately installed incorrectly, corrections were attempted only after the mistake had become apparent, and the resin installation proceeded without the promised confirmation video or my approval. When I returned home, I found that the completed border design did not match the agreed specification. Construction waste and food packaging were also left behind at the property.
What has been particularly frustrating is the lack of responsiveness in bringing the project to a satisfactory conclusion. The issues identified were not minor cosmetic preferences but deviations from the agreed design and damage caused during the works. Despite repeated attempts to obtain updates and resolutions, communication was often inconsistent, responses were delayed, and there appeared to be little urgency in addressing the outstanding defects. A project that should have been completed within a reasonable timeframe instead became a prolonged process requiring continual follow-up from me.
I understand that mistakes can occur on any construction project. What distinguishes a good company is how those mistakes are handled. In my experience, there were repeated errors, damage to property, poor communication, failure to follow agreed specifications, and significant delays in resolving problems. They demonstrated however little to none in understanding the fundamental principle of a good DESIGN, didn’t respect and follow clients’ design and requirements, attention to details is certainly not their strong suit, requires customers to supervise instead it should have been their job, definitely not treating your HOME as their own, throwing in some extra hiccups and free damages while calling this an IMPROVEMENT. Would you want your home renovation done by this company?

I would highly recommend Ian and his team for any work you require. They went above and beyond to deliver our vision, intricate additional requirements and meeting my meticulous attention to detail expectations. Access to our property also wasn't straight forward but they were respectful and considerate to our neighbours too which was a relief. The team also worked tirelessly through some horrendous weather conditions. 5 stars! Thank you.
